Last Blog!

Sadly, this is my last blog for my J Term class! :-( I am honestly going to miss sitting on the computer for 3 hours each day learning how to create a website. I am very happy that I took this class and I'm even happier with the things I've learned. I do not know if I will ever use them again to create a new website, but I am glad I have the skills and knowledge to do so. Monday will start the new semester and life as I know it will be crazy once again!!! Hopefully the semester is as amazing as i want it to be.

Lady Gaga

While I was wasting time on the Internet yesterday, I decided it would be a good idea to look up this year's Grammy Nominations. I was very pleased to find that Lady Gaga was nominated for so many awards. I was also happy that my favorite song, Poker Face, was also nominated for many awards... including song of the year. I personally do not think people know how much of an amazing artist Lady Gaga really is. She has the most wonderful voice and her songs have soo much meaning behind them. I know that she is often portrayed as a freak, but I know that on the inside she is very real. I hope reading this will inspire you to want to get to know her and love her the way I do. :-)

Spring Break!

I know it's only January, but I'm sooooooooo excited for Spring Break '10!!! Last year I went to Panama City Beach and it was the GREATEST experience I've ever had! This year we are going to Florida again! Uh I wish it was March! I am very excited for this year because I know so many more people and the group I am going with multiplied by 2! Plus this Spring Break Mizzou will be there, which will make the week soo much better! I hope that everyone gets to enjoy a Spring Break like this. It's really a once in a life time experience!

J Term!

This is my second year taking J Term and I have found one thing to be very common each time, I never want it to end. There is honestly such an unexpacted joy out of taking one class everyday for three weeks and four hours each day. I feel like I learn more in these three weeks than I do in a fifteen week semester. I do not know how that is possible, but I do. I also find it odd that all of the information I retain stays with me. I can recall the majority of the things I learned last J Term more than the things i learned last semester. I like knowing this because it will prepare me for Grad School when I guaduate. Whoo J Term!

OH WEBSITE... UHHH!

Today I worked on my website for three hours and I'm completely STUCK on one of my pages. I work sooo hard on each page, and it just doesn't work the way I want it to. I guess that's just life though. Right now I am trying to move a table down to fit my page and it just wont work. Hopefully it will work soon, but until then I will continue to get very angry!!! On an upside, I am very satisfied with the way my home page looks, and even some of my links look nice. When this website is finished, I will be very very happy with it... just getting there will take time.

Golden Globes

Tonight is one of the most anticipated nights of the year for America's Nation wide. Tonight is the night of the Academy Awards. I personally love the Academy Awards sooo much! I love watching the "stars" dress up in the most elegant outfits they can get their hands on. Tonight is the night that all of the stars will put their feelings aside and become good friends. This year I have watched many of the movies that are nominated for awards. Some that I'm really hoping win are; Brothers, Up, Precious, and many more. A few months ago, when i saw Brothers I was completely mesmerized. The acting in this movie was absolutely phenomenal! I have honestly never been more impressed with the acting capabilities this people have, and I truly hope it does well. I would also like to see the Hangover do well, which I know it will! Good luck to all of them!!!

Haiti

In all of my life, I have never realized how lucky I truly am after witnessing the struggle and pain the people of Haiti and their loved ones have gone through in the past three days. My heart has also never been so big. I wish there was something more I could do than just donate money. I have not stopped watching CNN since the day of the earthquake. The horrific things that those people are having to go through just kills me. Today I sadly watched a little girl give up her 3 day fight with the rubble on top of her. CNN has been following her since the earthquake happened, and today it stopped. It just hurts me that something like this had to happen to these innocent people that continuously struggle to have a healthy life before this happened. I am very impressed with the amount of help the United States has given the victims of the earth quake. I know that some people feel that the States should just keep quite and let them help themselves, but I do not feel that way at all. I know that if something like this to ever happen to me, I would have so much gratitude for the people that have the ability to help me, and did. I just hope that the help will continue to come their way and loves continue to be saved.

Tar Heels let me Down

Tonight the Tar Heels played Clemson University in an ACC conference game. Unfortunately they lost badly. I have never been more disappointed in my life. They are a very young team, and tonight it definitely showed. I feel bad for them though. After winning the National Title last season, they have a lot they are expected of... sadly they are only letting people down. I hope that they can pull it together soon and become the team every sports fan knows they can be. I have faith, and one day they will prove themselves again.

American Idol

Tonight was the season premier of season 9 of American Idol. I used to love American Idol when it first came out, but I have not been into it like i used to be. I do not see the point in allowing people to publicly humiliate themselves, but I guess it sells. I am writing tonight though because I was actually impressed with some of the singers that auditioned. They had wonderful voices and I could tell where there hearts were. I also liked that the majority of the talented singers were only sixteen. To be so talented and mature like these teens were is a wonderful thing. It actually shows me that there is hope in this world for the future, unlike what Idol used to show me with characters such as William Hung. I am also very happy that Ellen is going to be on the show this year. She is a wonderful person and will bring so many laughs and joy to the show.

College Kills!

It is now 12:30 a.m. and I am still doing laundry! I miss the days of being home with mom and dad and not having to worry about doing laundry, cleaning the dishes, or making my bed! I usually don't mind doing these chores, but I am not becoming sleep deprived because I'm waiting for the dryer to buzz for the fifth time tonight! The only good part was i was able to watch Secret Life, my favorite television show, twice. I was also able to get all of my homework finished and plan ahead for the rest of the week. If only we could live with mom and dad forever! There would be no worries, no hassles, and no pain... Unfortunately there would also be no freedom! :-(

Waiting on the World to Change.

I was always a big fan of the Transformer shows, so when the incredibly produced movie came out in 2006, I had to be first in line to see it. This past summer I was just as excited to see the sequel on opening day. I should be very excited that it is now on DVD for me to purchase, but I am sadly not. While watching the second movie, I hoped to have loved every minute of it, but instead of joy, I was soooo angry! The first movie was a "family driven" movie... so many families assumed they could bring their young children to see the second movie, how wrong they were. The first scene showed the beautiful actress Megan Fox in the least amount of clothing possible, the movie portrayed vulgar language throughout the entire thing, and the "metaphors" used were completely rude to anyone watching! I do not understand why the two most amazing directors of all time, Michael Bay and Stephen Spielberg, would allow this! I was also not too happy about the "love story" between the two main characters. I personally do not go to the movies to watch a movie titled "Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen" to watch two people struggle to say "I Love You." I am very disappointed with everything about that movie. Yes, the robot action was amazing, but everything else was quite the opposite.

Alabama Stole My Heart!

Last night I watched the Alabama defeat the Texas Longhorns in the annual Rose Bowl. I am a big Florida fan, so naturally I was rooting for Texas to win because Alabama crushed Florida about a month ago for the number one spot. I am not usually into football, and I do not have much knowledge on the stats and who the better player is, but I do know that last night Mark Ingram stole my heart. (Unfortunately he plays for Alabama.) I've always known he was an amazing football player, but what I did not know is that he is the son of the retired Professional Football Player Mark Ingram Sr. Ingram Jr. recently went through many struggles in his life, one of them being his father landing in prison a year ago for fraudulent money charges, but none of that slowed him down. Not only did this nineteen year old sophomore lead his team to an overweening victory over Texas last night, but he also received the Heisman trophy for the 2009-2010 season. I am very encouraged by the power and dignity that Mark Ingram holds. Even though his life is filled with struggles and his youth can sometimes doubt people in his strength, he managed to pull through and become an amazing athlete and person. He even earned the respect of the Texas quarterback, McCoy, after winning the trophy. I really hope that people can look at Ingram as someone to admire and respect, because as of right now, I can not think of a better person to be sweeping the nation in America's TRUE past time.

SNOW!!!

What an amazing day today! I was not sad at all that we did not have class. Not only was i able to go sledding TWICE but I made Puppy Chow with my best friends! Puppy Chow has to be one of the greatest inventions know to man kind! I've had such a wonderful day! I only wish college could always be like this! The only disappointment is that we will have to make this day up later on, which I will eventually be o.k. with. I hope that people will be able to drive safely tomorrow when class is back on. The roads are supposed to ice over very badly tonight, so I'm thinking another snow day sounds quite nice!

This is what Happens when the Titanic comes to LU!

After getting out of class yesterday, I walked to my dorm to discover that Icould not go inside because the fire alarms were going off. There were about 20 girls outside, as to which none of them knew what was going on. After calling security and maintenance and freezing for about 10 minutes, water started pouring down the side of the dorm. The girls then realized that the water pipes had busted. I looked up at the fourth floor and saw water falling from the ceiling, it honestly looked just like 10 waterfalls. Security then allowed us to come inside out of the cold but we could only stay in the main areas. Eventually they realized this was a bad idea and we needed to get all of our things out because the dorm was going under. I went down to my room, on the 1st floor, and water was everywhere. After my roommates and I evacuated all of our things, we went to the 4th floor to help a friend. It literally look like a land based Titanic up there. Water had filled the lights and caused them to come down and shatter, just like the chandeliers did on the ship. The hallways had about 3 inches of water floating above the carpet, and pieces of the celling were scattered all over the ground. There were even some rooms that the celling completely fell into, ruining everything... including the rooms directly below. This situation frightens me a bit because the University is not responsible or reliable to any damage done to items that are not University property. So it saddens me that these girls will return to reunite with friends and laughter, but will be shot down when they realize that everything they had was destroyed and the University will not do a thing about it. I think that something should be done for them. (I do not have proper knowledge on this subject and do not know if the University has plans to help them, but I know it is in their policy to not have the responsibility to a thing about it.) I truly hope that something can be done, and things get back to order as soon as possible.
